So, you’ve decided it’s a good time you start losing a little weight, and that working out regularly would be a good place to start. If you haven’t exercised for some time, or never, you may not have any idea how to get started. Perhaps you feel it’s a little intimidating. But not to worry, there’s a simple way to get back into exercise: walking! Whatever workout routine you decide upon, walking needs to be an integral part of it.
There are lots of ways to fit walking into your day-to-day agenda. Do you own a dog? Take it for a nice, long walk. Anything less than 10 minutes doesn’t count. It may only have been ten minutes, but in a week that is no less than 70 minutes, which is quite a good deal of walking. If you take your dog for a walk in the morning and in the afternoon then that number is multiplied by two. What about walking to workplace, or at least some of the way? This is something you can do no matter the distance of your home from work. Of course, you’ll need to walk back at the end of your work day, too, so that doubles your work out - whic is great! If you ride the bus to your place of work, you can just try to begin using a stop that’s a little farther from either end. Adding more walking into your everyday agenda is a snap.
Walking is wonderful for your body and general health. It’s simply because walking is one of the most efficacious aerobic workouts. This means it’s not just great for your heart, but you’ll experience weight loss also. You can go at a fairly slow pace if necessary, so don’t be afraid that you’re going to hurt your muscles or joints as you might if you went for a run. I have a brother who’s one of those folks who ingests a ton of junk and fast food but never gets bigger. How does he do it? He tells me doesn’t know how he does it, but he mention that he goes for a walk daily. At the least it now is perfectly clear. Walking is uncomplicated exercise, so there really is no reason you shouldn’t walk.
You’re more likely to stick with your walking regimen if you just make it part of your daily routine. Then, with a proper, nutritious diet, you’ll also begin melting off the pounds as if by magic. By walking you’ll also feel better and you won’t be bored by it as it’s not strenuous at all, which will make you feel more inspired. The more you walk, the more you’ll be inspired to walk . . . and the more quickly you’ll want to walk. This is great; go ahead and do it. Who knows? It could be that you’ll get used to walking a lot that you decide you’re ready to step it up by jogging. And you can progress to even more challenging workout programs, if you choose.
What else is there that you need to know? Are you ready to get started walking? Even if you’re busy you can spend 10 minutes to walk around the neighborhood, or if you’re a member of a gym, nip in and do half an hour on the treadmill at a slow pace to start off with.
